As a result of certain evidence recently given before a Committee dealing with another matter there appeared to be a strong feeling that at least a portion of this area would form an excellent place for a large coal storage wharf which might be rented out by Government in sections to various lessees, Goverment providing mechanical loading, unloading and transport facilities for their use at
fixed rates.
It was pointed out that if Kowloon ultimately became the terminal point for a big coal supply from the interior there would always be a considerable quantity brought here by ships for the use of shipping, and that Hongkong would be as suitable as Kowloon for this business, moreover, a large coal storage in such a position would constitute an extra safeguard to the Electric Light Works, Taikoo Refinery & Docks, and other adjoining works.

It has been suggested that the sharp curve
shown on the aligment of seawall near point I, where it would be less suitable for berthing large vessels than
elsewhere on the line, would be a suitable position for the
approach to a slipway if the construction of such was
